If Your Eyes Meet Those of the Beast

If your eyes meet those of the beast,
Make ready then to bear
The underling's unhappy fate.
'Tis the eye's direct dare.

If your eyes purposely avoid
— Even just so slightly —
The searching eyes of another,
Distrust can flare sharply.

If the portrait's eyes lock with yours
And follow as you shift,
'Tis unnatural proof of the
Eye's magnificent gift.

If closed, the eyes rebound the flow,
Making swirls of selfness.
Other senses might then fly free
To seek diff'rent access.

But the eyes hold full the power,
Just waiting to be strewn.
Look at me now without blinking
And let our cores commune.
