The Crystal Shows the Day

The crystal shows the day you'll pass from breath
And all other full mortal trappings drop.
Leaving you thus to glimpse your simple death;
No more won'dring what hour the clock will stop.

This truly knowing snuffs complete the chance
That your ending might ever be denied.
Will you twirl fast knowing how short the dance?
Or more embrace and feel each move and stride?

But not knowing can be real freedom's key,
Hiding the last curtain from constant view.
Look now, unleashed, on anything you might see,
All ventures - quick or stretched - to then pursue.

Your own pace to move; your own path to tread,
Not time nor seer should frame your days ahead.
